FILM SYNOPSIS
Set just after the close of the American Civil War in 1865, the members of the distinguished Baltimore Gun Club (an exclusive members club of cutting edge weapons inventors) become disillusioned by the ending of the war.
Their President, Impey Barbicane, proposes a challenge - to fire a projectile to the moon.
The world soon becomes engrossed by this awe-inspiring project and donations come flooding in from around the globe to help build the colossal cannon.
But when Barbicane’s adversary places a huge wager that the project will fail, the arrival of a telegram from a daring volunteer changes everything as he elevates the mission to a manned
flight to the moon.
The story unfolds as the travellers launch into space on their quest to land on the lunar surface.
As with all great adventures, their path is diverted by obstacles, including a near-miss collision
with a meteorite that changes their trajectory and puts them on an orbital path with the moon
rather than allowing them to land.
Pooling their scientific minds, they manage to break the orbit of the lunar disk and begin their dangerous return journey home.
