CONCEPT ART

The Digging Begins

With pickaxe and shovel the digging begins to reach a depth of over 900 feet

A Duel in the forest

Maston & Ardan race to stop a duel to the death

Inside the Projectile

In this concept drawing we start to see the makeup of the inside construction of the projectile. The vacuum gas heater and light source that arcs around the inside of the walls, the large porthole hatch that gives the travellers the views into space and a more detailed rendering of the space suite. Taking cues from the deep diving apparatus of the time, the suit has a very classic but modern feel whilst still being true to the materials of the time

The Launch Area

This Digital Matte Painting concept explores the area around the launch area of "Stones Hill" in Florida 1886. At that time the land was untouched, everything had to be constructed in order to build the cannon

The Casting of the Cannon

With the raise of the flag and a signal cannon bursting in the sky. 1200 smelting ovens open their doors and rivers of white hot iron pour down into the mould of the cannon with an unspeakable noise

Inside the Capsule

Concept ideas for the use of pressed aluminium that make up the walls of the projectile

The Strike of the Water Table

The rock gives way and a flood of water suddenly starts to gush in. Unsettling the wooden shores that are holding up the walls, the diggers soon start to get trapped

Fire!!

At the precise moment, the cannon is fired from the depths of the earth. The ground shakes as the shockwave knocks spectators off their feet for miles around

The Space Suit

Continuing the theme of "Old Materials - Modern Design" we start to explore the possibilities of the construction techniques of the time and how we would expect the gun club to design such equipment
